Vacation in Boracay!

For our second and final vacation at the end of July Don and I went to the Philippines. We flew into Manila and then on to Kalibo, one of the two airports closest to Boracay. Kalibo is actually on a much bigger island next to Boracay island and we had to take a bus across the big island then a boat to Boracay. It was a really long day of traveling to get there, but definitely worth it!

Kalibo Airport

Main form of tranportation on the island, its a motor bike with a side car

When Don and I finally arrived at our hotel we were told that we were being upgraded from a regular room to a suite! It was really nice, and extremely comfortable. We were given welcome drink at the bar upon entering the building and then led off to the front desk and on to our suite where we were given a basket of fruit. We booked the Island Escapade Discount Package (good for 2 adults) 7-Day, 6-night deluxe accommodations which included a 2-hour land tour around the island with stops at Puka Beach, Bulabog Beach, & Mt. Luho Summit, a sunset cruise on a local sailboat (Paraw), a Banana Boat ride, an in-room 1-hour Full-Body Massage or Foot Spa, daily breakfast, a dinner certificate (up to P500 per person ) at Ariel's House Resto, a complimentary fruit basket, welcome drinks, 12 bar drink coupons (water, soft drinks, fruit juice, fruit shake, and beer), 20% Off All Drinks at Ariel's House Bar, and transportation from/to the Airport. The price was only $699 total for the two of us for all of that. We were extremely impressed. We were given an itinerary at breakfast our first morning of all of our activities and were told that we could leave them as they were or reschedule as we liked. Everyone was super accomodating and friendly.

Mt. Luho Summit, highest point on the island; and the store at the bottom.

A gas station. That is gas in the Coke bottles and jugs.

Puka Beach

You could pick out what seafood you wanted and they would weigh it and cook it up..yum

We were able to book a separate excursion through our resort to a place called Ariel's Point. It is property owned by the same people who own the resort. Since we were staying at the resort we could go on the excusion for a discounted rate. They brought us by boat to a different island where they have an amazing spot with beatiful views. Once there we could cliff jump, snorkel, swim, have unlimited drinks, they served a wonderful buffet lunch, and relax in a trully tranquil place. It was so nice there and we were so happy that we decided to go for the day.

The monkey is Michelle, she doesn't like women and she bites, she really liked this guy.

On our way back to Boracay from Ariel's Point.

You would think that with all of the things that the resort already had planned for us and then the separate trip to Ariel's Point that we would have been fully booked up with stuff to do... Well we managed to fit it more! We also went para-sailing, jet skiing, Don went helmet diving, we had two other massages and of course did some shopping! Phew, it was great!

These pictures were taken after our sunset sailboat cruise. It was a beautiful sunset.

A bunch of the local kids in the area spend all of their time at the beach. While there they play but they also make these beautiful works of art. Of course they don't mind if you tip them.
