Goodbye November, Hello December

Well since the last post we have had American Thanksgiving, explored the city a little more, and have had some nice meals with friends. For American Thanksgiving Brian used a connection that he has on the army base to order an entire Thanksgiving Dinner. It was around $100 American but we split it a bunch of ways so it wasn't so bad. We had an entire turkey (which I used later to make soup), mashed potatoes, veggies, stuffing, cranberry sauce, dinner roles, gravy!, and pumpkin pie. It was delicious! We are hoping to do a similar thing for Christmas. There were some new teachers that had just arrived that joined us and they were happy to enjoy a meal that they thought they would miss out on this year.

Might not look like a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner but it was as close as we could get

Don and I also got out and explored another part of the city called Insadong. It is known for being an artsy area. We found a strip of shop stalls with the typical shiny things on sale and leggings and cell phone charms. There are also a crazy amount of restaurants but Korean and fast food. We got a coffee at one of the many coffee shops and explored around a bit.

These little stalls are all over the city, very convenient!

One of the fancier scooters around, most are pretty small

Elastic bands are called Love Rubber here...

In the past two weeks we have also gone out for galbi a couple times with other teachers. Thought we would finally post some pictures of it since I have talked about it a couple of times.

How the meat arrives at the table

Cooking, you start with the huge slab of meat and then cut it
with scissors when it is almost completely cooked.

Erin (soon to be leaving us), Brian Tonia and I, Don is the photographer.

Korean BBQ is served with a bunch of sides, if you want it, reach.

After dinner we stopped at this new pie and coffee shop, Pie! In Korea!

A new teacher has just arrived this past week and she starts her training on Monday. Her name is Elizabeth. I have been out with her a couple times now and she is super nice. It is sad to see teachers leave but it is also nice to meet the new teachers coming in. One of those mixed emotions things I guess.
